A full remodel is where the ranges stretch widest, because tile, glass, fixtures and layout all stack. The national cost guide rows are typical US ranges adjusted for Scottsdale's price level (about 3% above the national average), not Scottsdale quotes. Ranges differ by source because scopes differ, so compare like with like: a refresh is not a remodel, and a starting point is not a ceiling. The actual price is set after an on-site assessment.

What do showers cost?
| Item | Figure | Sources |
|---|---|---|
| Shower replacement, standard | $8,000 to $20,000 | Phoenix-area remodeling firm |
| Custom walk-in shower | $20,000 to $45,000 or more | Phoenix-area remodeling firm |
| Walk-in shower, typical | $5,000 to $11,000, average $8,000 | National cost guide |
| Walk-in shower, prefab vs custom | Prefab $2,000 to $8,000; custom $5,000 to $20,000 | National cost guide |
| Shower tiling | $1,800 to $5,000, average $2,700; porcelain installed $17 to $46 per sq ft | National cost guide |
| Shower remodel | $15,000 to $40,000 | Phoenix-area remodeling firm |
Much of a shower's price sits behind the tile: waterproofing, the pan, and the framing that makes a curbless or large format design possible. Glass moves the number too, since frameless panels are fabricated to measure once the tile is set. The shower page explains how size, tile and glass move the number.

What does a tub to shower conversion cost?
| Item | Figure | Sources |
|---|---|---|
| Tub-to-shower conversion | $9,000 to $14,000 | Phoenix-area remodeling firm |
| Tub-to-shower conversion, general | $1,200 to $10,000, average $4,000 | National cost guide |

| Custom tiled walk-in shower in the same footprint | $3,500 to $15,000 | Another national cost guide |
| Curbless upgrade | About $3,000 more than a curbed shower | Phoenix-area remodeling firm |
| Relocating plumbing fixtures, per relocation | Adds $3,000 to $8,000 | Scottsdale luxury renovation guide (2026) |
That spread comes from scope: a basic conversion with the drain left in place anchors one end, and a tiled build with moved plumbing plus a curbless entry anchors the other end. The conversion page covers the decisions behind each price band.

What do tubs and walk-in tubs cost?
| Item | Figure | Sources |
|---|---|---|
| Bathtub installation job | $2,000 to $10,500 (average $6,000) | National cost guide |
| Alcove tub, installed | $450 to $1,400 | National cost guide |

A freestanding tub is the range's statement piece, and it brings planning: floor support, access into the room, and a filler location all get decided before the tub is ordered. Walk-in tubs bring a different list: door swing, a step-in threshold, and electrical if jets or a heater are chosen. The bathtub page and the walk-in tub page cover each.

Storage upgrades and countertop choices stack onto the fixture price in the vanity rows. Tile numbers need the same care: per square foot pricing may not include the waterproofing and prep that sit behind the tile. The vanity page walks through both.

Estimates
How should you read these numbers?
Ranges are published by cost guides and company websites (checked October 2026). They are market figures, not a quote, and not a promise. Here are 2 calibration points from the 2025 Cost vs. Value report (the 38th annual edition, published September 18, 2025): a mid-range bathroom remodel in the Phoenix market averaged a $23,627 job cost with 79 percent recouped at resale, and an upscale remodel averaged $75,957 with 37.3 percent recouped; a universal design remodel averaged $37,503 with 68.2 percent recouped (JLC/Zonda 2025 Cost vs. Value, Phoenix (opens in a new tab)). Use them as sanity checks.

Questions people ask
Still have a question? Call (747) 243-2089 and describe the bathroom.
01What does a bathroom remodel cost per square foot?
A national cost guide puts bathroom remodels at about $120 per square foot on average, with a range of $70 to $400 or more, driven by materials and scope. A small bathroom with premium finishes can cost more per square foot than a large one with standard finishes.
02Is a bathroom remodel worth it at resale?
Cost vs. Value 2025 data recoups about 79 percent on a mid-range bathroom remodel in the Phoenix market, about 68 percent on a universal design remodel, and about 37 percent on an upscale one. Resale math is only one reason to remodel; daily use is the other. The ROI guide goes through the data.
03Do these prices include materials?
It varies by source and by row. Installation ranges include labor and often basic materials; per-square-foot numbers may be material-only. Check whether a number covers materials, labor and removal before comparing it with another.
04Why do sources disagree on the same job?
Because scope definitions differ. One guide's bathroom remodel is a cosmetic refresh, another's is a full gut with moved plumbing. That is why this page names the source of each number.
